4. Are you insured and covered for workers on my property?
Ask for proof of liability insurance and WCB coverage before anyone climbs a ladder on your property. A legitimate contractor expects this question; hesitation is your answer.
5. Is there a written workmanship warranty?
Paint manufacturers warranty the product; only the painter warranties the workmanship. Ask what happens if paint peels or flashes in six months — and get the answer in writing, with a duration.
6. What’s the timeline, and who shows up when?
A professional can tell you how many days the job takes, what happens each day, and what time the crew arrives. Vague scheduling before the sale usually means vague scheduling after the deposit.
7. What are the payment terms?
Reasonable terms look like a modest deposit with the balance on completion after your walkthrough. Be careful with anyone who wants most of the money up front, or offers a meaningful discount for cash with no paperwork.
8. Can I see recent local work and reviews?

9. How do you handle surprises and extra work?
